Carrie Kerpen is the CEO of Likeable Media and the host of the All The Social Ladies Podcast. Her podcast has included guests ranging from author Ann Handley to Carmen Shirkey Collins (of Cisco) and features some of the most influential women in business today. It's safe to say it's a can't miss podcast (lady or gentleman!).

It's worth noting that her spouse, Dave Kerpen of Likeable Local, was a previous guest on the show. One of the coolest things about this podcast is hearing Carrie discuss some of the same things Dave and I discussed in order to hear both perspectives of the Kerpen family.

This Week on Why I Social, Carrie and I discuss:

  • Building Community for "All The Social Ladies"
  • Her side of the Kerpen wedding story
  • Managing time (as a CEO and a parent)

Nycole Hampton (@MsNycole) is a social media strategist at @ChooseChicago. She has a passion for all things Chicago and is the last of a trio of guests from a previous #socialroadtrip to Chicago this past summer with alumni Joel Renner.

There's a ton to be impressed with from Nycole's resume - from managing her own freelance career alongside a full-time job - to her Instagram success leading the Choose Chicago accounts. She's also an active speaker speaking at events in and around the city (and beyond).

This Week on Why I Social, Nycole and I discuss:

  • Her passion for the city of Chicago
  • The power of influencer marketing
  • Using User-Generated Content (and Instagram)

The list of Nick's accomplishments are too big to list everything but a few notable ones include helping Oprah put the first Instagram Video on TV, a two-time Addy Winner and a multiple time SXSW speaker.

More importantly, Nick is active across social media creating conversations and telling stories on a plethora of platforms including Twitter and Snapchat.

This Week on Why I Social, Nick and I discuss:

Caitlin Waters (@Cait_Waters) is Digital Communications Manager at SocialWhirled, Director of Programming for Social Media Club Phoenix as well as host of the #chatwhirled twitterchat. She's also a Why I Social podcast ambassador.

I've long had the opportunity to watch Caitlin work her magic running the #ChatWhirled twitter chat and seen her work from afar. Long before she was a Why I Social ambassador it was clear she was putting in her time and effort to progress her career and help others.

From time working with Habitat to Humanity to her experience launching multiple social media accounts, Caitlin has kept herself busy and advanced herself professionally in a short amount of time.

This Week on Why I Social, Caitlin and I discuss:

  • Small-town versus big-town
  • Launching a new social media account
  • The story behind #ChatWhirled

This week's guests (the duo of Scott Stratten and Alison Kramer) are the team behind the UnPodcast. The podcast can best be described (as seen on Unmarketing.com) as "the business podcast for the fed-up". The pair is responsible for a fantastic collection of books and provides some real-life examples of things brands are doing both wrong and right.

In addition to the podcast, Scott has written four best-selling business books, the newest being “UnSelling: The New Customer Experience” which was just named “Sales Book of the Year” by 1-800-CEOREAD. He also spends his time providing keynotes at conferences around the world. It was his closing keynote at Higher Ed Web 2015 in Milwaukee that provided me the opportunity to connect. He is a powerful speaker who commands your attention.

It's safe to say this team is a winning one - and their insights are on-point in regards to what is taking place in the social media and marketing world we live in today.

This Week on Why I Social, Ali and I discuss:

  • A day in the life the Unmarketing Podcast team
  • Creating a podcast with a dedicated video component
  • The importance of focus

When I (@CBarrows) first started the Why I Social podcast - I never expected to be a guest on my own show. As the story goes, around episode 20 or so - I started getting requests to here more about the show and why I decided to start it. I won't deny that it's always nice when people are interested - but I thought nothing of it.

Nearly one year later this happens: A live blab - hosted by alum and friend, Vincenzo Landino (@VincenzoLandino) - where I'm a guest on my own show. It was a humbling experience as well as a valuable one - as it put me in the seat I've put more than 55+ alums previously.

This Week on Why I Social, Vincenzo and I discuss:

  • Starting Why I Social
  • How a handshake played a key role
  • My Five Favorites

Adam Dince (@AdamDince) is the Director of Earned Media at Deluxe Corporation and the co-founder of #Spoofchat. He brings over fourteen years of internet marketing experience to the podcast including everything from SEO, web development and social media.

As I caught up with Adam this past week, he was just getting back from one of his speaking gigs at Minnesota Blog Con. Adam has lived in Arizona and New York prior to his move to settling in Minnesota. His experiences and strong network have continued to gain him opportunities and ultimately led to his current role at Deluxe Corporation.

#Spoofchat is discussed in the last part of the podcast and is a weekly twitter chat mixing pop culture, humor, and social media into a unique blend of crazy fun.

This Week on Why I Social, Ali and I discuss:

  • Moving from New York to Minnesota
  • The creation of #Spoofchat
  • Why he believes in holistic digital marketing strategy

Lucy Rendler-Kaplan (@LUCYrk78) is a Senior Marketing Communications professional with over 17+ years of experience. She hails from the Chicago-metro area, is a fan of Chicago style pizza (yeah, we went there again) and you'll find her every week as a leader of #Contentchat.

You may remember Lucy's name as she was one of the person's I met face-to-face during my #SocialRoadTrip with alum Joel Renner during our trip to Chicago in the summer. Like many of my guests - her appearance on the show is a long-time coming - and she's the ideal guest for the show as her accomplishments aren't illustrated by any sort of follower count.

This Week on Why I Social, Ali and I discuss:

  • Identifying your customers using social media
  • What is "hustle"?
  • The return of the NYC versus Chicago pizza debate

While often we speak of companies starting in a dorm room with platforms like Facebook - Ali is a member of that club.He co-founded MetroStar with Robert J. Santos in 1999 while pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy at George Mason University, and has grown the company to more than 200 employees and profitability.

Rachel Miller is Senior Social Strategist at PureMatter. Outside of her role at Pure Matter, she (was) the co-host of #SBizhour (with Episode 1 guest, Brian Fanzo)

I've had the luxury of working with Rachel Miller during her time at Millennial CEO. During this time I can recall my first Google Hangout with Rachel. I immediately picked up that we were cut from one of the same pieces of cloth in regards to the topic of organization. It's this department that most persons I (and probably you) know can learn a thing or two.

This Week on Why I Social, Rachel and I discuss:

  • Playing the long-game
  • The tricks of the trade to staying organized
  • Running and evolving #SBizHour

If you recognize the name Austin Andrews - you may be a fan of the reality tv series "The Biggest Loser". Andrews was a competitor on the show (with his father, Ken) during Season 11.

Since leaving the show, the pair has started their own business venture (RetroFit Ministries) where they focus on healthy living in the Christian Community

If you've ever seen Austin on a blab or tweeting on Twitter, you know he brings an energy that is like none other. His focus on building relationships and putting others first is a welcome one in a social media world that is so often filled with ego.

This Week On Why I Social, Vincent and I talk about:

  • The power of addiction
  • Experiencing "The Biggest Loser" with his Dad
  • Starting RetroFit Ministries

Sree Sreenivasan (@Sree) is the first Chief Digital Officer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the latest step in what he calls "a three-decade, one-way love affair with one of the world's greatest museums." At the Met, he leads a 70-person team on topics he loves: digital, web, social, mobile, video, apps, data, geolocation, email and more. He joined the Met after spending 20 years at Columbia University as a member of the faculty of the Columbia Journalism School and a year as the university's first Chief Digital Officer.

I first had the opportunity to meet Sree as I introduced him as the keynote speaker at Edu Web Digital Summit. His all by mobile presentation style caught my attention and his love of technology made him the perfect guest for the podcast.

In addition to his role as CDO, he also has a podcast of his own (The @Sree Show) which can be found at http://www1.play.it/audio/sree-show/

This Week On Why I Social, Sree and I talk about:

  • The importance of mobile
  • His passion for technology
  • The value of museum culture

Tamara McCleary (@TamaraMcCleary) is the creator of Relationshift and an internationally recognized expert on relationships and conscious business. She’s constantly on-the-road speaking at events across the country. Based on her Instagram I can tell you she usually gets a window seat.

The Boulder resident is arguably the most inspirational guest to-date that I’ve had an opportunity to converse with on Why I Social.

From business to simply enjoying life, Tamara has the pulse on what it takes to make the shift that we as individuals need to truly find that “happy place” in our lives.

Mandy Boyle (@MandyBoyle) is Director of Marketing at Net Driven. She is also the co-founder of NEPA BlogCon, an adjunct professor at Marywood University and a member of the New Vintage Ensemble. I have it on good authority that she also makes a mean cupcake.

Personally, I've known Mandy longer than any other guest on the podcast. We both attended the same university (Marywood) and were part of a variety of clubs together during our time on campus. The term is over-used but it's the only way I can truly describe Mandy.

Go-Getter.

From day one, she knew she wanted to succeed in her career and life in general. She's done just that. I invite you to get to know Mandy Boyle this week on Why I Social.

Pam Moore (@PamMktgNut) is founder and CEO of Marketing Nutz. She has 15+ years of experience helping everyone from entrepreneurs to fortune 500 organizations build winning brands and integrated platforms that sustain business.

Personally, I've had the pleasure of conversing with Pam on more than a fair share of occasions through Twitter. Her friendly approach and personable nature made it easy to start a conversation. Perhaps what has impressed me more is her ability to accept what she hasn't mastered. Shortly after we recorded her episode, I found her utilizing social media to find a greater understanding of Snapchat.

The reality is we aren't all-knowing - as much as many "social" folks - seem to think they can be. Pam gets that! Enjoy the conversation.

This Week On Why I Social, Pam and I talk about:

  • Omni-channel versus multi-channel
  • Writing a book with a co-author
  • Starting a company

Alissa Trumbull is a freelance writer and graphic designer. Throughout her career, she's held a variety of unique and interesting roles including teacher, HR director and sales manager.

My own interactions with Alissa prior to a few months ago have all been through Twitter where she excels and is actively involved with many projects including #foodiechat.

As a personal bonus for me I must note that this podcast was recorded just two weeks after I visited Chicago (and saw Alissa face-to-face). After the mention of "Social Road Trip" in two of the most recent episodes, it's appropriate I turned one of my own recent road trips into a guest appearance. In honor of that trip, this week's "Five Favorites" are Chicago themed!

This Week On Why I Social, Alissa and I talk about:

  • Working behind the scenes at a beauty pageant
  • Chicago style pizza (don’t act surprised)
  • Being a storyteller when building relationships

Get To Know Alissa

Aaron Kilby is Director of Marketing and Business Development at Artisan Colour. He’s also the creator of #Mediachat - one of the most popular and longest running Twitterchats on-going. At the time we recorded, he was getting ready to host Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg.

It’s important to note (since we talked about so many great things we never got around to it) that Aaron is well-known for his love of bacon. His experience in the graphic design industry, however, is often not discussed and it was a true joy to learn about where his passion for the industry came from in this episode.

This Week On Why I Social, Aaron and I talk about:

  • The story behind #mediachat (enter #pantschat)
  • Getting into graphic design
  • The power of fonts

For the first time in Why I Social history, this week's podcast features not one, but two guests! Cody and Katie Stevenson.

The pair is a married couple who I've had the pleasure of getting to know (as well as host at my house for a BBQ earlier this summer). They're perhaps best known for some of their great travel stories which caught my attention early on.

Both are proficient in social media as a relationship building platform. Most recently, Cody launched his own podcast (Big Rigs and Pancakes) which focuses on conversations and getting to know people. It's the anti-social, Why I Social, and it's fantastic.

This Week On Why I Social, Cody, Katie and I talk about:

  • Starting a podcast
  • Traveling across the country
  • ...and of course, how they met.
