Martin Lieberman (@MartinLieberman) is a content marketer and social media manager for IBM. His career began as an intern at Ad Age in NYC and blossomed in Boston as he took on a multitude of roles at companies like Staples and Constant Contact.

Aside from his professional life, Martin is a sports-fan (I forgave him for cheering the Red Sox) and an avid-movie goer. While he was on a long-list of persons I looked forward to having on the podcast, it's worth noting that recent alum, Glenda Vaquerano made the personal recommendation herself to include Martin on the show.

This Week on Why I Social, Martin and I discuss:

  • His "very early" career in journalism
  • Discovering sports in Boston
  • The unplanned journey that turned into a successful career

Stephen Hoops (@StephenHoops) is a SEO and Content Marketing Specialist and a graduate of West Virginia University. My introduction to Stephen came through mutual friends and a few Why I Social Ambassadors.

On a personal note, I always enjoy the opportunity to talk to guests who possess the energy and spirit of someone like Stephen. He truly was a joy to connect with and learn more about how he went from college DJ to marketing specialist!

Note: Though it was not discussed on the podcast, Stephen also recently launched a comedy podcast of his own, titled "Down To Clown"

This Week on Why I Social, Stephen and I discuss:

  • Moving to (from New York) and living in West Virginia
  • How he discovered social media
  • The impact of Megaman on his life

Welcome to the second episode of Why I Social Sessions - where we bring you short discussions focused on one-singular topic. This is not your standard Why I Social episode where we learn about a guest - but instead - we focus on important topics impacting the social media space today.

Today, on Why I Social Sessions, linguist and SXSW speaker Gretchen McCulloch (@GretchenAMcC) and I discuss the value of emoji's as a communication tool in today's social space.

On Episode 2

1. Who is using emoji language (and why?)

2. What role does emoji language play in online conversation?

Following the conversation:

I'd encourage you to use the hashtag #WISSessions to share your thoughts on Twitter and Facebook.

This Week's Question(s):

  • Do you think Instagram took too many direct features of Snapchat?

Glenda Vaquerano-Briones (@GlendaVee) is Public Relations and Social Media Manager at Sexy Hair Concepts. Her PR background (including college) has lead her to a career as an experienced public relations and social media professional whom is also one of the funniest people I've had the pleasure of meeting on Twitter.

Glenda, whom I first met thanks to my #JVMChat co-host Jason Viglione's wife, also understand the importance of customer service. She's excelled in the social media management and fashion industries and is a true pleasure to chat with on this week's episode.

This Week on Why I Social, Glenda and I discuss:

  • How Glenda found herself at Sexy Hair
  • Just how crazy IS fashion week?
  • The challenges of social media and the beauty industry
